We have a passion for people, our city and our world. Our culture and leadership is characterized by worship, the love of God, and a genuine call to ministry. These core values have been shaped by our rich history of great co-workers and energy; always pressing forward in our call to love God and love others.
a.I married Jackie, my high school sweetheart, in 1979. We have two children, and four grandchildren. I served as the Senior Pastor of Ponder United Methodist Church from June 1993 until June 2000. I served as the Assistant Chaplain at the Denton County Prison from June 2000 until December 2007. In a wonderful blessing, I returned to Ponder UMC in January of 2008. I hope to minister in Ponder for many more years. I have a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the United States Air Force Academy, a Masters of Biblical Studies from Canterbury Christ Church University in England, a Masters of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry from Trinity Theological in Indiana. It is my special privilege to preach and teach the Bible at Ponder UMC.
a. The positive high points of my life are too numerous to list. I have always felt an amazing strong bond with my parents, but it was not through them that I first felt the influence of faith in God. It was through my precious grandmothers and their love of Jesus. And then there was my best friend in grade school, who just happened to be a pastor's daughter, insisted that I start attending their new church as soon as it was built. As my faith grew, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and was baptized at the age of 13. So many people have been such a positive influence in my life over the years. Teachers that favored me, bosses that promoted me, friends and family that treasured me, and I them. But the true rock in my life has been my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I've learned to just trust God, he is my strength. As my faith continues to grow, so do my blessings. One of my most awesome blessings is to be the Children's Pastor at Ponder UMC. I've got the joy joy joy joy down in my heart. Praise be to God!
